LOVED this discussion! I had no idea that wintergreen was associated with beech. I actually tried making a joint pain salve with wintergreen and chilli and it turned out to be pretty popular. I've only ever used it in this capacity, but it's nice to hear you talk about using it too. In so far as Wood Betony (Stachys betonica) goes, it grows abundantly here in my region and I find it to be very helpful in small doses for soothing children's nightmares. I was taught it was mostly used for recurrent unpleasant thoughts which lead to headaches :) Great post as always Judson!
