Interesting! I didn’t know there was a hemlock which wasn’t poisonous! My husband made my desk out of hemlock wood.

Side note: I’m almost finished with re-reading your book & noting places where there are typos, etc. I’ll be finished by next week.

THat is awesome - thanks! Yes, the poison hemlock is conium. It is in the parsley family and nearly identical to wild carrot or Queen Ann's lace. I always warn people not to harvest wild carrots until they get to know the differences between the two plants VERY well!

Oh wow! I’ve never seen a wild carrot. So ACTUAL wild carrots are fine to harvest and eat? BTW, parsnips are one of my favorites to cook with.

Sure! Wild carrots grow all over the place up here. I can fill a 5 gallon bucket with them in maybe 15 minutes. THe taste is very good and a bit closer to parsnip than cultivated carrots. But, they can be tough. you often have to cut around the tough parts. The roots are usually about the size of a pencil, so that can be a little tedious. They are best in soups, stews and roasts... not really a salad veggie. THey are a good diuretic and good for kidney/bladder stones.

Thanks for the info! I’ll check to see if they grow around here.
