You can't beat Storey's Guide on raising ducks. Was that cookbook James Beard's Fireside Cookbook?

In addition to the treasure of info you share with us, I LOVE the drawn images you use.

Thanks! I really love those, too. Be sure to check used book stores, library sales, etc. A lot of worn out old textbooks from pre-1960 or so have beautiful color plates of botanical illustrations that are very suitable for framing.

I’ve been looking for this very thing. We have many used book stores around us and even those which specialize in antique or valuable books. I have found MANY stunning and very old Catholic texts, missals, Bibles, etc., but I have yet to find one with these gorgeous pictures.

Alas, I shall continue on my search until I find what I’m looking for. 😉

My best find was a duck hunting book from 1920.... absolutely gorgeous wildlife prints! - no text on the opposite side

AMAZING! Sort of off topic, but we raise chickens (in addition to growing almost ALL of our own produce each season) and we got 4 baby ducks and two chicks to add to our little farm.

We’ve never raised ducks, so that’s going to be an adventure. Currently, everyone is in the brooder.

I can’t say what my BEST find has been. Two that stand out are a missal from 1952 signed by Lefèvre and a cookbook (with weirdly modern drawn pics throughout) from 1942.

I gave numerous other antique books that I treasure as well, but I inherited those.
